Are you kidding?? A22 Sports have announced that plans for a European Super League are back on. You’d have thought they got the message last time 🙄🙄🙄
Alright, alright; to be fair to them, the entire concept has undergone a massive change in structure. Though despite placing a heavy focus on revising past issues, it won’t be easy.
In April 2021, proposals for a new European competition to replace the UEFA Champions League were announced. Causing huge controversy and disdain by fans, players, and sponsors alike, the plans were scrapped after only a few days.
With original protest being centred at the lack of sporting merit, financial motivations, and lack of transparency, new plans state they will:
- Have up to 80 teams
- Play within a multi-divisional format
- Have no permanent teams
- Minimum of 14 matches
While that all sounds all well and good, it has still been met with serious backlash.
"It is disguising itself as an open and meritocratic competition, but underneath there is still the same selfish project. Don't let their tales fool you."
Additionally, due to rulings in the new Premier League handbook, English teams cannot join. Without some of the world's biggest clubs, the league would seemingly struggle.
In that case, I guess we’re left with the English Super League 🤷♂️😆

Just How Good is LeBron James?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock this week, you would have seen that Lebron James has broken the all time NBA scoring record.
Breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 38 year old record, LeBron surpassed 38,390 total career points.
While greats like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan did great things in the NBA, they didn’t even come close to breaking the record. With 33,643 and 32,292 points respectively, it begs the question.
Just how good is LeBron James?
To put that into context, we came across a Tiktok which analyses current NBA players’ records and compares their projection to that of LeBron’s in an effort to see whether they could come close.
Spoiler alert: it doesn’t look likely.
- Kevin Durant, who is currently second behind LeBron in total points scored (for active players), has not even cracked 30,000 points yet
- James Harden and Russel Westbrook stand in third and fourth and are already beginning to tail off in influence
- While Steph Curry is a great in his own right, injuries mean he remains way off
- Although younger players can *potentially* reach the tally, it would mean they would have to maintain an outer worldly level of play for over 10-15 years 😬

Kansas City Chiefs - The Road to Victory
If you don’t know, now you know. The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl Champions!
The Chiefs became NFL Champions for the second time in four years, fighting back to beat the Eagles 38-35
So, how did we get here?
A team tipped for greatness, The Chiefs showed why they made three out of the last four Super Bowl’s. Showing their attacking dominance, the Chiefs were number 1 in points per game, yards per game and passing yards per game. 🥶🥶🥶
Having what many considered to be the most exciting roster in the league, their squad certainly did not disappoint. None more so than quarterback and league MVP, Patrick Mahomes.
Over the season, Mahomes set the record for most offensive yards in NFL history at 5,164. With that, the quarterback also topped the league for passing touchdowns. While we could write a whole newsletter on him alone, everyone pulled their weight this season.
Coming into the playoffs at first seed, the Chiefs did their job. Playing victories against the Jacksonville Jaguars (27-20) and Cincinnati Bengals (23-20), they were a team on a mission.
With two hard fought battles under their belt, it seemed that the team were ready for anything. They were.

Fancraze, a cricket focused NFT entity, have announced a new partnership with 12 English County Cricket Clubs!
Already having made deals with many major players in the international Cricket scene, the company can potentially take domestic Cricket to the next level.
Signing with 12 out of the 18 teams in the English and Welsh domestic game, the partnership could be the start of major developments in the sport.
Some of the details of the deal include:
- FanCraze receiving traditional sponsorship assets such as stadium branding, hospitality, and ticketing rights
- Fans will be able to collect NFT’s and use them to play and interact with the sport
The hope for the deal is that the English Cricket scene will finally be able to keep up commercially with others around the world.
“English cricket has always intrigued me personally because English counties have been able to establish a real culture that is deeply entrenched in the history of the sport, but the English domestic clubs haven’t always been able to keep pace with the times commercially and take their brands outside of England”.
